DROWNING PREVENTION
In compliance with art. 14 of Royal Decree 742/2013, of September 27, which establishes the technical-sanitary criteria for swimming pools, we publish the following information:
RECOMMENDATIONS TO AVOID DROWNINGS, TRAUMAS, AND SPINAL INJURIES IN SWIMMING POOLS
1. Avoid drains in swimming pools.
2. Carefully check the water depth before diving. Do not dive headfirst in places where the depth is unknown, as it may be shallower than expected, resulting in serious injuries and possible spinal injury.
3. Avoid unsuitable places from which to jump, such as trees, balconies, or other inappropriate spaces.
4. Enter the water slowly or jump in feet first several times before diving headfirst.
5. When diving headfirst, arms should be extended along the body to protect the head and neck. A bad fall from a high place, even if landing in the water, can result in serious injury.
6. Constantly supervise children when they are near recreational waters, even when the amount is small.
7. Avoid consuming alcohol before any activity in or near the water.
8. In general, it is advisable to shower before entering the water to facilitate the body's thermal acclimatization.
9. Do not jump on other people in the water.
10. Furthermore, in the event of an accident and the need to collect and handle the victim, it is very important to immobilize the neck, avoid movements of the spine, and call a professional to make the transfer. The injured person should not be transported in a utility vehicle.
